It is well-known that the Jordanian telecommunications infrastructure is expanding at a very rapid pace with new technologies being introduced. These technologies have enhanced the demand for advanced voice and data communication services, which resulted in a boom in the telecommunication industry. To meet the challenge of the evolving and dynamic behaviour of the telecommunications market, highly-trained graduate engineers equipped with both technical and management skills are needed. On the other hand, the rapid pace of technology change requires an explicit focus on life-long-learning and that the continuing education of graduates must be addressed effectively.

Furthermore, changing labour market and working conditions raise the importance of certain attitudes, management skills and social competencies of graduates which reflect on their employability. All this cannot be achieved with traditional curricula that focus only on the technical contents of telecommunication Engineering. Therefore, in order to address these challenges, a reform process of existing curricula, teaching methods and study models of engineering graduate programs has to be conducted in order to accommodate a diversity of labour market needs. Such new and reformed graduate level programs and curricula will allow college-level graduates or professional telecommunications engineers to upgrade their knowledge and to acquire the skills needed in a fast-growing technology environment.
